I don’t want to cook dinner.

I’m in the pool → implies “bugger dinner and stay in the pool”.

But my wine glass is empty → implies “might as well get out to refill glass and throw some dinner together”.

Why can’t I accept that the bank I chose is content to provide ambiguous/inaccurate time zone information regarding opening hours? “8:00 am to 6 pm AEST/AEDT” makes no sense because they are different time zones. Should I expect someone to answer the phone at 5:45 pm AEST in December? Of course not. But isn’t that what their language implies?

@ash What’s the character limit on posts at bne.social? I’m looking for a friendly and queer-friendly instance that allows more than 500 characters.

In our family, “pizza” means homemade pizza - usually with homemade dough. And what the rest of the anglosphere calls “frozen pizza” from a supermarket, our boys call “oven pizza”. It makes me laugh. Isn’t all pizza “oven pizza”?!

I have had a cold for a week now. It’s not covid. I’ve been to the doctor and it’s a virus. On Wednesday I thought I was getting better but I feel like crap today. On Wednesday night I attended my choir’s final rehearsal before our concert, sitting away from everyone. The concert is less than 36 hours away, and I don’t think I’ll be able to perform with them. I’m disappointed. I am far from indispensable but I’m a strong and in-tune tenor - a valuable asset in an amateur choir. C’est la vie.

J’ai envie de sortir a une boite de nuit chic comme ce que Deneuve et Depardieu ont visité dans Potiche, « Badaboom ».

Our concert is in 3 days. At last night’s rehearsal, our director decided to cut a difficult section of the Sunrise Mass. I laughed to myself because it happens to be the bit of the Creed about Jesus’s resurrection. Oh well, at least he was entombed.

(Oja Gjeilo was free with the text anyway, so it’s not a big deal.)

Some days I would rather be on my way to visit Vinh and Maiko in France than driving to the local hospital or boarding house. But only some days. 😊

I have a regular, slightly disorienting experience when I connect my smartphone to one of the work cars and go to choose my destination but my destination list is filled with odd places around the world that I have recently looked up because, for example, I’ve been chatting with someone who lives in Serris France, or because I read that the Canary Islands are the antipodes of Australia. Oddly, my smartphone isn’t able to give me driving directions to the Canary Islands.

29/32 🥳

I got both questions about factors and multiples wrong!

I sort-of guessed the sine question and managed to guess correctly.

I nearly gave up on the question with a fraction as an exponential because for me the typesetting didn’t make it obvious that it was an exponential. https://toot.wales/@aegir/113545646616964829
