Anyone seeing this an expert on Barbie dolls?

My wife remembers seeing on at KB Toys around early 2000s/late 90s, top shelf, displayed next to a clear open box, something like a forest fairy or similar goddess.

Her family could not afford it, and KB closed before she could go back and look for it after moving around with her family.

Any idea what it could be, or a browsable picture inventory I can poke through?

Anyone willing to fixup/resurrect evolution-on for Alpine Linux after changes in GCC14 made the old package fail to compile and it was retired?

I am thinking a $10 bounty or so might be appropriate? If not, let me know. I need my email client to run resident and hidden to the tray when not in use.

This album is an absolute gem. If you liked acts like Dash Berlin or Cascada or September, you'll likely fall in love immediately.

BandCamp tags is as pop/electropop, which sure I guess, but it dances with some really excellent sounds and feels of late 90s/early 2000s trance and dance music and just has an excellent existence of its own.

Alright folks on BitWarden, looks like they are speedrunning Enshitification and moving to proprietary clients and servers, so now is the time to backup/export your credentials and look around for alternatives.

I personally use NextCloud Passwords and NextCloud OTP Manager, but that is not a security endorsement, just what I chose for my family.

Say I wanted to measure CPU usage for a task (min, max, mode) in Python 3.x across Win/Mac/Linux without using psutil, is it easily doable with stdlib?

It would not be for instantaneous/continuous usage, but rather for a line-item in a log to describe how a task ran after it completed.

Thinking back, Jury Duty was probably the single biggest domino that fell pushing me Left and opening my eyes to how different folks are treated by the Criminal Justice System.

It almost feels like that's why it's basically impossible to take on without financial hardship unless you are passive-income wealthy, thereby limiting the pool of peers 🤔

[#]GISChat, something to consider for whomever admins the GIS Slack space.

https://eigenmagic.net/@NewtonMark/112455578857917485

Slack is now using all content, including DMs, to train LLMs.

They offer a thing they're calling an "opt-out."

The opt-out (a) is only available to companies who are slack customers, not end users, and (b) doesn't actually opt-out.

When a company account holder tries to opt-out, Slack says their data will still be used to train LLMs, but the results won't be shared with other compani...

Trivial question:

Is a 100Hz AdaptiveSync 5ms GTG VA panel going to feel significantly different/better than my existing and very old 60Hz 5ms TN panel?

I'm especially worried about VA's apparent slow transition in dark tones as most games I play are dark.

I do not play competively anymore, but I also did get motion sick when I used a very slow/old IPS panel (15ms) and smearing hurts my eyes.

Is anyone I know a mod on GIS.StackExchange who is willing to help me remove all my questions and answers before I delete my account?

I'm in the top 7% of contributors, and I want precisely 0% of that to remain around for OpenAI to abuse.

I am absolutely in support of using my privilege to help educate folks and boost folks' work, but VC-backed AI bullshit firms are not on my list of folks needing my help.

Yes, I am petty. Yes, this violates their ToS.

CO2 levels below 800ppm greatly increase the decay rate of aerosolized SARS-COV2 virus particles.

So, a portable CO2 meter can be a reliable proxy metric for exposure risk.

When compared to a typical atmospheric [CO2(g)] (~500 ppm), increasing the [CO2(g)] to just 800 ppm results in a significant increase in viral aerostability after 2 min (Delta VOC, Fig. 2a). No significant difference in infectivity is observed between 800 ppm and 6500 ppm.

@simplex, I am just learning about your app/protocol.

Is there a way to migrate chat histories from other apps, like say Threema, into Simplex so I can reduce switching costs for my family and friends?

If I can go one day without needing to use Google Drive only to have it butcher the files after creating the on-demand zip archive that would be fantastic.

Another stand-out piece of software from the "best" tech company on Earth 🙄
