I'm really conflicted about the upcoming election.

Do I vote for Labor in an effort to keep actual fascists out of power, or for the Greens because who knows they might get enough seats to DO something and I really don't want Labor's to be the only hand on the tiller?

Australia has a choice, much as the USA did, between fascist cunts and Anyone Else, so I guess I need to vote for Labor "to be sure". But then if they do win, I get to suffer through another four years of fuck-all getting done by a government with no vision, no balls, and barely more humanity than the slavering Duttonites.

But at least they are Anyone But Dutton.

Argh.

(Australian) ABC's "Weekend Breakfast". I don't watch it, but I get it second hand as the partner watches it most mornings. It is such a vapid, pointless show, but this morning was particularly bad, with lengthly discussions of his family's wardrobe at the inauguration, ffs.

I couldn't help transplanting it back 80-odd years...

"Ooh, seems like Mr Hitler is trying out a new cuff style this time!"

"Yes, and I do believe they may have added tassels to some of the flags, and don't they look festive!"

It all normalises and glosses over the fact that there is an actual fascist in the White House. They did mention "The Handmaid's Tale", so that's something.

Went to get blood taken today. In waiting room, people were laughing at an antivaxxer book someone had left there. By RFK Jr and someone else, calling the pandemic an "epidemic of unexplained deaths".

Someone asked if they should chuck it out and one of the staff said no, it gets more laughs than anything else ever has.

Tusky users: How can I make the alt text on a video go away?

It does disappear on its own after a few seconds, but many videos are only a few seconds long and a long alt text basically renders such videos unviewable. Tapping the video to pause it brings up the text; tapping the video to unpause it brings up the text. Catch-22!
