I finished the first version of my youtube-player web component. It started as a project to show thumbnails without the play button covering them. It evolved into speeding up thumbnail and providing custom thumbnails, titles, and content warnings.

It also updates the page's body tag with a data attribute that can be used to adjust page styles when videos are playing. (the examples do a lights out thing as a demo)

Of course, sup tags likely behave differently on different clients. Probably best to use actual superscript characters for that kind of thing:
