Super-complex, low-side switch PCB has arrived. This is going to be squished into a handheld #Meshtastic radio case to control power to the GPS module. Having power control apparently reduces battery drain by around 40%. #electronics

A local enthusiast has put a test #meshtastic node up on the local high point of Trundle Hill in West Sussex and it has linked up many devices Westwards towards Portsmouth and beyond.
This project is a fascinating addition to my tech hobby interests.

Hey #meshtastic folks with outdoor nodes. I'm thinking of putting a temp/humidity/pressure sensor into my RAK Wisblock build.
What cases or precautions have you used to allow the sensor to work without the environment affecting the main logic boards? Any wisdom is appreciated.

Having fun, but also the odd issue, with the RAK #Meshtastic Starter Kit (RAK Wisblock and RAK4631 module). The hardware seems fine, but there's a few quirks - for example, when using the Android app, the phone's Bluetooth connection to the kit kept disappearing every few seconds. After some head scratching and Web searching, I found out that the trick is to let the Meshtastic app make the connection and don't pair/ connect first with the phone's BT app, as in the quick start guides.

I've just ordered two new ribbons for the Commodore MPS-801 printer I bought and stowed last November. At £12/pair, the ribbons cost more than I paid for the printer!
Hopefully my world will be full of brrrrrt...zip...brrrt...zip...brrrt...zip soon.
/I checked, the 801 is Rifa-free, so that's a good start.

Any #Linux folks care to offer their experience of using any specific distro on a Zenbook flip with touch screen, and foldable from laptop to tablet? I tried a live build of MX Linux about 6 months ago, and the rotate and touch functionality were not great - I ended up in config hell trying to get them to work effectively. If I can get this sorted I can move this laptop off Win 10 for good.
Thanks!

A Rendar Safebloc. A handy tool for connecting power temporarily to a thing with no mains plug so it can be tested.
Why the excitement? Well, I knew I had one and I've just found it again - it's been AWOL for about 20 years!
In the same box:
3 x 74LS673N
1 x DM74154N
1 x AY-5-1013 UART (Date code 7530)
1 x Z80ASIO-0
1 x Ferranti ULA2115E (Probably avionics-related)
Er, that's it.
Has your Sunday been this exciting!!?
What's your long-term AWOL re-find?

A fun job coming up in the next few weeks (probably).
The main home server is now a bit ancient: It's a Core2 Quad Q6600 LGA775 + 4GB RAM with a pair of RAID 1 arrays using 6TB + 5TB helium drives. Total storage used is ~6TB.
I have a spare Gen 2 i7 box with 16GB RAM into which I'll add a boot SSD and RAID 1 10TB pair, then I'll either try a full migration or install the OS (Debian) & apps again then sync over the data.
I wonder how long the data copy will take across the Gigabit network!?
