Maya just committed a new driver called ncm(4), which provides a mechanism for certain newer phones to share their internet connection with NetBSD. (Until recently, most phones used urndis instead.)

New in -current: support for Snapdragon X Elite GPIO and I2C controllers. This is necessary for mouse input on the latest "Windows on ARM" laptops from Lenovo.

Also, backlight control on Motorola 68000 PowerBooks! 😉

Riastradh has added a new target to ./build.sh, pkg=CATEGORY/PACKAGE. It builds a cross-compilation toolchain for the given platform, bootstraps pkgsrc, sets up pkgsrc for cross-compilation, then builds the package. Pretty cool!

Now if only all software supported being cross-compiled... 🤔

Recent improvements in -current??

Improved performance with version 6.0+ SD cards through support for drive caches, we should see it in NetBSD 10.1 - thanks jmcneill.

Ethernet support on the RISC-V StarFive JH7110 - thanks skrll.

sh now has a suspend builtin, just like csh.

macallan is continuing his legendary work with writing drivers for vintage 2D accelerators, and has committed an accelerated X.Org driver for the HP Visualize EG.

awge (the Ethernet driver used on low-cost Allwinner ARM boards) now scales much better across multiple cores in CURRENT with the NET_MPSAFE kernel option - in case any of you are running firewalls on your Orange Pi!
