please support la fire victims who squat in/permanently occupy the airbnb homes they are in temporarily.

airbnb regularly advertise short-term housing that is against local rental/housing/civic laws. the people/companies who own these property have been breaking the law. it is morally just and legally questionable for folks who are currently in an airbnb unit in la county today, to refuse to leave.

i’m working on slides explaining open source to elite (r-1) college students/early devs.


how would you explain open-source to a group of fourth year computer science students? (mostly entitled/privileged folk in their early 20s dreaming of working for a corporate overlord)

@farmOS Hello : ) I hope your travels home were smooth!

There’s an upper division class at UC-Irvine (I TA’d its big brother) that is looking for clients for Spring25 (Mar26-Jun6). If farmOS is interested I’d be honored to do introductions and support however I can, if not, no worries at all!! Its basically a team of 3-5 students who act as a dev contracting team with full university support (they learn gantt charts and such) for 10 weeks. Forprofits pay $15k for the one I was part of (two 10-week quarters) and nonprofits are free. This is my first time working with the uni on this class, but I’ve worked with Hadar Ziv (UCI) in the two quarter version as student and as teaching assistant. Thank you for your time, Marie
