I've been reading Ann Leckie's Imperial Radch books.

I very much like how friends made earlier in the story matter later, and even save the day. Breq didn't need to save Seivarden, but did and that has paid off. Certain characters are freed of servitude, and now act in the best interests of people under their care in the face of powerful opposition. Another story line I enjoy is the growth of Seivarden. She is a massive tool, but keeps growing throughout the events of the books. #bookstodon

Just finished listening to "This is How You Lose the Time War" again. The second time through still strikes me with the the beauty of the discourse, The raw need for, and acceptance of, between these two gods unchained from space and time moves me. It's a deeply allegorical work about how love transcends time by changing and recoloring memory and recontextualizing the past. The same events mean something more as. #Bookstodon

Today I finished "This Is How You Lose the Time War". This is one of my favorite books for the year. Romance blooms between two agents of cultures wrapped in furious contest for the fate of forever. The story plays out in in the finding and reading of correspondence only readable by beings outside time. A relationship starts with good natured taunting and admiration of prowess, and progresses through sharing into love. It's poetry and ferocity and hunger and admiration. #bookstodon
