Is it possible to build a Linux machine and NOT become a full time sus admin?

I’m a 2 decade Mac user, but also a front-end web dev who loves open source and the ethos of the indie/open/distributed web.

I need a personal machine for personal web projects, music listening/archiving, and simple DAW.

Have been considering the m4 Mac mini when it releases, but #Apple treatment of users and devs over the past 5+ years has me mulling over SFFPC running Linux.
