Yesterday's sugar overload translated into waking up at 5:30. Can't go back to sleep due to a cookie-hyped brain latching onto nonsense. Why do brains do that? Like unruly puppies looting trashcans for discarded junk that is bound to make them unwell. So silly. Might as well get up. Anyway, here goes boxing day. When I switched my career in 2009 from research to #openaccess, #twitter was instrumental in building my knowledge, finding my community and participating in the fast-paced changes in scholarly communication. I almost forgot to share this: #ivoted as an #overseasvoter - it has become a much cherished tradition that a wonderful friend in LA and I have a long election videochat. We each prepare and show up with information about all the stuff on the ballot. Plenty of morning coffee for my friend and afternoon tea for me and then we discuss, reflect and form a decision about how to vote. It is a duty, a privilege and a joy to be able to do this every time. #harriswalz2024

Word of the day: "legerdemain" - slight of hand, deceitful cleverness, trickery. The word is also used in German, "Das Legerdemain" which translates as "Taschenspielerstück, Trick".

Just wrote two condolence mails to friends who lost loved ones, while quarantined in the bedroom to protect my husband as I just returned from a conference. So this is not quite the easy, lazy saturday morning I would like but I got a gorgeous breakfast tray from my wonderful other half. And I am #grateful

OA Welle 4 (beginnt jetzt) : Diamond - dazu gibt es eine Studie für ein Mapping der OJS basierten DOA Journals in Deutschland - die sich reimt u.a. mit der PLATO Studie der Schweizer DOA Journal Landschaft von Daniela Hahn: z.B. 2/3 der Zeitschriften sind thematisch bei den Geistes und Sozialwissenschaften. #OAT24
