Hardware Review: Ozlo Sleepbuds

A quick review of a decent piece of "sleep technology" that has been making my sleep more restful over the past few weeks.

From Furniture Websites To Sweet Home 3D

Rambling a bit about how to get 3D models from furniture stores websites into the Sweet Home 3D interior design app when planning how to arrange furniture in a (possible) new house.

Last year's most clicked blog post of mine was about Free Software washing machines, so let me revisit this again with some of the practical concerns I have, and why I won't be following up hands-on on this.

End of the year appears to have woken up networking folks trying to convince us that 2025 is definitely the year of

[#]IPv6!

If you believe so, help me collect services that are totally definitely available over IPv6, to show that v4 is legacy, and users can totally give it up!

@fastmail hey folks, any chance you could publish SPF records for the send-as-another-domain SMTP servers? I have a ticket open for nearly a week now, it's a bit annoying that if I try to send as my alias domain I just get rejection back because you send through an undocumented server :(

Defusing AGPL-3 With Batch Processing

Preamble: this is an intentionally incendiary post, you could even define it as trolling. I have been thinking whether to publish this for a while, as it is on the border of being the type of unkind post I wouldn't want to be associated with. But I decided to post this for two reasons: the first is that clearly a lot of people already know what I'm talking about, so it's not like I'm revealing some tightly-held secret, and the…

Since #WordPress is the topic of the month, I will repeat that Automattic and WordPress have been awful for anyone not paying them tons of money for years. Even being a paying customer on lower tiers wouldn't even get a CS rep to care about your issues.

Stop Calling Them VPNs!

I keep complaining over and over about the marketing of tunnel services as "VPNs", so let me explain why I don't want anyone to call them that, and take a critical look at what utility they do provide, comparing to what they promise.

Cuteness Prowling

I found out it's International Red Panda Day! This cutie was prowling in Kobe Animal Kingdom — unfortunately I couldn't get a good picture of their tail, and none of them playing with their tails, but they're still a very cute and friendly-looking animal.

I'm quite not how come we didn't end up domesticating them over the millennia like we did with cats. I would totally love to have a red panda sleeping on my desk using their tail as a pillow.

Yes, I thought purple would be a nice colour for my Glasgow after all.

Now if only I had the time to play around so I can actually use it, I would be happy. But there's only so much time I have nowadays (none whatsoever.)

COVID, Part 2: The Air Purifier Saga

So I have not been keeping up with the blog for over a month because of… COVID, what else? But there's a bright side and a lesson I want to share: you want an air purifier!

Don't judge from how much code I wrote but from how much I prevented from being written. Not from how much I learnt but how much I taught.
