The UK government has decided to name its AI assistant "Humphrey", thus proving that they completely failed to get the joke in Yes, Minister. Presumably the next stop will be a tool for generating press releases called "Malcolm".

I know it isn't really the point, but I am very much enjoying the flurry of cat pictures and cool songs that people are posting.

A day of juggling work with car repairs and domestic things. The rapid switching between mental modes makes my head spin.

@Laurenx Hello! Welcome to Masto! Do scan through my mutuals for some initial follows. The other thing here is to follow hashtags. Shout if I can help - it's a little different to centralised social media.

Well, I wasn't expecting to take my archery assessment today, but that's how it panned out. I passed, thankfully!

Is anyone else just utterly heartbroken by this whole Gaiman thing? I know it’s a selfish reaction and that what matters is the victims and not my feelings, but it’s hit like a breakup or a death. I really thought he was one of the good ones. The sense of loss is real.

The migration to Fastmail is now done and the Proton account is deleted.

Couple of things I learned along the way:

  1. Proton's export tools are a bit flakey and don't always bring everything with them on the first go. Do your export multiple times!

  1. I really don't like Thunderbird as a desktop mail/calendar/contacts client. It's fussy and fiddly. Other recommendations welcome!

More in sadness than in anger, I'm in the process of slowly exporting my emails from Proton and importing them into Fastmail.

Which does seem to be very good, and has the small bonus of also being slightly cheaper.
