Decided to register for PyCon US. I had a great experience last time and it was useful professionally (among other things, it led me to start using Temporal at $DAY_JOB, I presented at FlaskCon and I brought the flask-mail extension back from the dead at the sprints).

Not exactly sure what's in store this time, but we'll see! Maybe see you there?

Going through a big stack of old books to give away in the little free library (we have a queue now).

Usually giving away something is an easy decision. A biography of Frederik Douglas aimed at children? Easy to imagine that sparking a light in someone.

Books that I would like to have read but haven't definitely trigger FOMO but that can be overcome.

The hardest are the ones with inscriptions which bring back memories of past lives, never to return.

Still working on my residential solar / heat pump analysis. I think it's almost ready (and I have a year's worth of data! happy solarversary me), just need to polish it up into an evidence dashboard or something.

Latest fun fact: Switching to Ontario's time of use rates for net metering (which I think just became possible this year?) improves the yearly payout by something like 20%.

Currently watching the animated Lord of the Rings movie, which I still vaguely remember seeing at the local indie cinema as a kid in Ottawa (decades before the Peter Jackson movies). My 10 year old self enjoyed it, but it didn't age well.
