Biotic communities in nature are important. Various scavenging birds clean the skin of hippos or rhinos and get food in return. They even clean the crocodile's teeth: Because the crocodile is a cold-blooded animal, it needs externally supplied heat. When it refuels solar energy, it lies in the sun with its mouth open. Some birds take advantage of this opportunity: they pick food scraps out of the crocodile's interdental spaces.

Good morning and wishes for a nice Sunday. And for all of you who are “suffering” from winter, here's a photo to remind you that there will be brighter days again. Even if the days won't get warmer any time soon - daylight is already lasting longer.

Not a ghost, but a flying male peacock. A peacock usually only takes to the skies in case of danger. The short flight then goes into the nearby bushes or onto the nearest branch. The bird also spends the night in a tree, where it is protected from predators. It is assumed that a peacock can fly about one kilometer at a time with difficulty. However, this does not look particularly elegant.

It's not the full moon that's showing itself here. It's the sun on a winter's morning trying to work its way through the thick fog.

The so-called tandem flight is the name for a special behavior in dragonflies in which the male attaches itself to the back of the head (large dragonflies) or the front breast (small dragonflies) with its abdominal appendages in order to lay eggs together with the female. A process that is difficult to capture photographically - at least not with the clarity of the image that I managed to capture here.

Little fruits can bring color to the dreary winter gray with their bright coloring. Ornamental apples deserve a special mention. They are an eye-catcher in the garden at any time of year and are not only beautiful, but also useful - both for us humans and for nature.
