One year after the original projected shipping date, and 13 months after the revelation that the phone will require a new SoC and a complete redesign, F(x)tec have finally announced that the Pro1 X is ready for final assembly. A new COVID-19 lockdown was recently ordered for Shenzhen, where the assembly plant is located, so there might be a few shipping delays yet, but the nightmare of designing and supplying new components is now over. With any luck, I will be receiving my Pro1 X by the end of next month.
A friend of mine moved into a new house over the weekend. He and his husband own several arcade machines, which required us to bring a trailer to haul all the components. While all the machines have casters, the heaviest one was too tall to roll into the garage--and we had no dollies to lay it on. It took seven of us to tilt the machine onto its back and carry it up the driveway.
My 7-day weight loss between 2022-02-27 and 2022-03-06 totaled 3.8 pounds, just 0.2 pounds less than my largest loss since I started tracking my weight. Last week was snowy and much colder, during which I didn't exercise as much. Regardless, I almost lost another pound as of yesterday. My weight is now officially under 215 pounds. I currently aim to get below 200 by 2022-05-01.
I was hit by a wave of nostalgia the other day and decided to buy a used Dingoo A320. The A320 is a old retro game emulator with a massive modding community--Linux was ported to the console almost a decade ago, and new homebrew and emulation software is still created for the device today. I purchased an A320 in 2013 and used it as a game console and music player for years--in fact, I only stopped using it because the plastic shell of the device began to break apart.
In my high school and college days I did quite a lot of creative writing. I hardly ever write anymore, but sometimes I'll jot down a quick idea. I've noticed that while I will sometimes play fast and loose with historical facts, if an element of aerospace is present in the story, I will meticulously research every facet of its history in order to get it exactly right. Perhaps the quality of my writing will improve if I took the same care with every other aspect of the plot.

I paid a visit to Kansas City this week and got to explore much of the city center. I arrived at KC's Union Station fairly late: most of the attractions were closed for the evening, and only a few people remained in the front hall. This meant, however, that the historical terminal was unoccupied, allowing me to snap some striking photos.

Local temperatures oscillated wildly over the course of the week, reaching close to 80 F one afternoon and dipping close to 0 just a few nights later. Snow melted off our roof during the warm days, and water overflowed from a clogged gutter onto a Japanese maple tree in our front yard. The water then froze as temperatures fell, leaving thick ice on the branches.
