for no reason
this one is for my wife. It's her birthday tomorrow. Happy birthday Ali! I hope you like this. I was very inspired by many of our conversations about us and our family. It's hard to capture the love in a song which is why the song itself says that every day I want to write a new song. I feel this way about you, and Rosemary (but this song is for you).

i made this two years ago but didn't actually use it for anything. i like to imagine a movie trailer about hackers or something. i made it for my job which is hard to explain. but this year (tomorrow) is a big huge event I've been planning for months called the Hyland Hackathon. so im all stressed right now but hopefully it will be good. that's not exactly related to this track but it's of the spirit. anyway listen to it and imagine someone wearing sunglasses and typing really fast

the first release of 2025 for me is a demo of a track that's already been released. starting things off nice and chill - setting the bar low. i do really love this song. i wrote it to my daughter Rosemary, but also for my wife (aka the "your mom" of the song). it was for the short film i made for my wife's birthday last year. there was a nice actually-good version of it produced by my friends ben and danny, but i always have difficulty keeping the intimacy with that sort of thing. this demo version is a lot closer to the point of origin for these sentiments. very raw, straight from my phone into the digital bips and bops. that's my favorite part of music making. i love the craft of songwriting. recording, producing, arranging, releasing - all that stuff is kinda fun at times but it's not really my bag. i love figuring out lyrics and meter, little riffs and chord changes and structure and stuff. i have evolved a lot as a songwriter since i started writing songs about 16 years ago. i think this song is an example of my best possible work for this time in my life. short, sweet, simple. and in this demo, you really get to hear the simplicity. i hope you like it.
