This was greatly eye-opening to me. The list of remotes inside the whole thing has always been a bit underused to me, but you have just outlined the exact use case for the whole thing.

Currently, I don't do very much collaborative programming outside of work, but I do use remotes as a way to create distributed backups. But now I have the idea. I'll have to keep this in the back of my mind when I'm doing something similar.
