2024-09-26: First day, this capsule's tech stack

First entry on my first day of having a gemlog.

This capsule is being hosted using Agate¹ on an AWS free-tier EC2 instance. I will probably swap Agate out for space-age² (because I like Clojure significantly better than Rust, and being able to program in the same language as the server is written in seems beneficial).

=> ² lambdatronic/space-age on gitlab | ¹ Agate on Github

I followed this guide³ to get this thing stood up.

=> ³ How to Set Up a Gemini Server of Your Own, Even on a Simple Single-Board Computer by Dr. Roy Schestowitz (2021)

Add. 2024-09-27

Getting AWS set up wasn't terribly difficult, but I think it would be pretty overwhelming to a complete newcomer. I don't know that much about using AWS to self-host stuff either, but between Googling around for guides and having had similar experiences trying to figure out how to use GCP I was able to stumble my way through getting the networking set up to permit Gemini protocol messages. Everything else is in the guide above.
