It's 2022. That is six years, and Square-Enix still refuses to releaseDragon Quest VII on iOS in English.
My kids are starting to enjoy the Dragon Quest games and have asked why number seven is missing. There is no reason I should have to buy a 3DS and play it at a crappier resolution when they have purchased every other Dragon Quest on their iPads.
It seems no one else wants to fix this. I got my start in programming by translating Super Famicom RPGs Square and Enix kept refusing to translate in the late 1990s.
Guess it's time to do that again.
This is a simple project to port the Nintendo 3DS translation of Dragon Quest VII to the iOS. It will not look perfect, and it will not include all the conditional programming Heartbeat added to modify nouns according to the number and gender of your current party, but it will be far more playable than if it were in Japanese.
Contributions are welcome if you would like to improve how the game looks or correct problems in the translation.
