Back in 2018 I spent two weeks in Toronto for immigration paperwork reasons. I spent the whole time at Tim Hortons locations working remotely. I spent the evenings trying all kinds of bar food and drinking local beers.

When I got back home I had annoying stomach pains. I went to the doctor and he told me I have teeny tiny kidney stones and that my blood was too acidic. All the coffee and beer had changed my blood chemistry and my kidneys were struggling to keep up. He recommended I hydrate using alkaline water.

I immediately walked to a pharmacy and bought several liters of alkaline water. I drank two liters right then and there.

The weather is so hot and I’ve been sweating so much that I think I’ll need to hydrate a lot more to prevent this from happening again.
