I try real hard to not fall into the "back in my day..." ditch as I slowly become a crotchedy old foagie. but I must indulge my inner septuagenarian for bit.
Kids these days, in the online spaces I frequent, are so infantilized and helpless it's making me frustrated on their behalf. They can't figure out basic computer shit because they spent their whole lives using Idiot Boxes. A recent-ish shutdown of a popular pirated anime streaming site has got these young folks in a tizzie. They are so used to being served content like livestock they are completely unable to identify alternative avenues to obtain the succulent media they crave I've several suggestions to torrent get shot down and the only real valid reason has been not owning a pc (which is again indicative of this technological infantilization; a useable laptop can be had for less than the latest iphone but nobody uses desktop computers anymore I guess). it is so frustrating to watch these dorks squirming under the new techo-cultural mores. But if you remember being that age, you know that nothing anybody says will make you listen until you've thought it through yourself. But we're all too busy consuming digital media to think very much these days.
I feel bad for people growing up now, but alse they can kiss my ass. Stop being a clown. Get off my lawn.
