✐ Microsoft_Bing_Hides_News_Regarding_Microsoft_Stabber_Joseph_Cantrell⠀✐
Posted in Deception, Microsoft at 7:14 pm by Guest Editorial Team
Reprinted with permission from Ryan
Microsoft has removed all references to Joseph Cantrell from Bing News, which
has made its way into DuckDuckGo as well.
Google News still returns results for the drug_addled_Nazi_that_Microsoft_hired
and now tries to hide. No doubt, having him stab another employee was very
embarrassing.
This is just one example of how Microsoft can run damage control. As his case
winds its way through the court system, people will increasingly wonder what
kind of company hires people who self-admit to extensive drug usage and Nazi
ideology, and then further admit that nobody on their team of 4, which costs
the company over a million bucks, can figure out bugs in Azure, and have to
resort to posting questions on Stack Exchange.
The drug diary, which I also previously reported on, also shows that Cantrell’s
behavior created an extremely toxic and harassing workplace. On numerous
occasions, Cantrell says that in company meetings, he said Indians shouldn’t be
allowed to work at Microsoft and that one person in particular “should have her
green card revoked” for being Indian, admitted to soliciting prostitutes and
getting STDs from them, and blogged extensively that tech companies who have
Indian CEOs don’t have good products anymore. “I wonder if Bill Gates even uses
Windows or if that Indian guy at Google even uses Google.”
Almost all of the worst of his admissions in the diary were on his public Web
site before the hiring.
But if Microsoft sets up a simple key word ban, nobody following Bing or
DuckDuckGo News will read about its dirty laundry. █

Why the Pension Story is Relevant to Us
Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 4.0
http://techrights.org/videos/pension-story-redux.webm
Summary: The crimes of Sirius_‘Open_Source’ will be the subject of many future
posts and today we explain why this is a subject of relevance to Techrights
THE pension situation where I worked for nearly 12 years impacts a lot of
people and it helps reveal rampant corruption in the pension ‘industry’. I’ve
been thinking about this deeply for days, also in light of several news items
about France and about the US pension promises being unsustainable. Are people
meant to ever retire? Are people living to work? Or they do work to eventually
live? (Hours after work or after they leave work altogether)
“Why did the accounting people allow pension fraud to carry on for so long?”We
have a lot more information in the pipeline, albeit we’re limited by what we
can say at any one time. The reasons are explained in the video above as well.
Why did the accounting people allow pension fraud to carry on for so long?
Could they not refrain from collaborating. In fact, who does the accounting
anyway? There might be an even more sinister scandal therein and we’re
investigating the matter.
Another question: can one actually withdraw a pension early? The state would
say that’s possible, but companies lie their way or simply hide when the
subject comes up (e..g. bank details specified or time for cheque to pick up
with paperwork signed). The outcome of any hypothetical investigations into
this turn out to be ugly. The pensions seem like a black hole. You can put
money in, or >think you put money in, but you can never take anything out.
“Everyone agrees that pension providers are very sensitive about their brand/
reputation (more so than banks).”Our approach here has been multifaceted; the
goals and methods are many. Since we deal with an actual criminal matter, we
cannot be ignored by pension providers, police etc. They cannot simply turn a
blind eye. Everyone agrees that pension providers are very sensitive about
their brand/reputation (more so than banks). There are several reasons for
this, but those are beyond the scope of this post.
As noted in the video above, many in the “tech” sector have a decent salary and
thus pensions. Employers typically enroll staff as means of lock-in or
“loyalty”. Millions of programmers and GNU/Linux engineers have been subjected
to this, so it is on topic and very much relevant now that the media starts
questioning the viability of pension systems (in the long run). Discussing the
matter can compel them to double-check these things and, in general, it’ll help
guard workers’ rights.
The coming week should be interesting as we investigate along several separate
lines. First, the accountancy. I wrote to them this weekend:
Hi,
I am writing to you as a person who recently resigned from your
client, Sirius Corporation.
You may or may not know this, but Sirius Corporation and a shell
called Sirius Open Source Ltd. changed their company address to your
address this past October. I confronted the company’s CEO in length
over it (40-minute phonecall). He supplies a false address. The
company claims to be based at your address. This CEO resigned only
weeks ago.
To make matter worse, the company committed serious pension fraud, as
confirmed to me and ex-colleagues on April 11. We have formal letters
from Standard Life to share with you. This is now a criminal matter
and a serious issue that may unfold in months to come. It represents
potential reputational harm to your firm.
We expect the the person you’re dealing with might face extradition
proceeding and prosecution for fraud, committed against many people
for years.
I can discuss this over the telephone with you. It’s an urgent
matter.
In addition, we’ll show what happens when you ask a pension provider to explain
lies from many employees, including a manager. We’ll then show what happens
when one asks for an “unauthorised” (but legal) withdrawal.
“The coming week should be interesting as we investigate along several separate
lines.”Finally, we can show what happens when trying to tackle criminals
directly. Imagine the “big boss” pretending that he does not even exist; while
he was stealing a lot of money from his staff in secret he worked out secret
deals, eventually one with Bill Gates under an NDA.
To be very clear, this is not about the money; this is not about “destroying
Sirius” either but about holding criminals fully accountable and doing justice
for the victims, of whom there are many (Standard Life actively obstructs
inquiry into how many).
The crime in this case was committed against GNU/Linux enthusiasts. It was
committed by people who do not even using Linux but are recommending the Linux
Foundation. Yes, that one! Remember that Linux Foundation is not for Linux.
Linux is for Linux Foundation, but Linux Foundation is not for Linux but for
Microsoft et al. It’s not a reciprocal relationship but an exploitative one.
The same is true in Sirius. The company has oppressed and exploited people who
actually use what the company uses in its marketing.
“The bottom line is, the company engaged in fraud (we only found out this year)
and its victims are many people who actually use GNU/Linux, unlike the
perpetrators of the fraud.”For comparison’s sake, to paraphrase a friend,
there’s the Linux Foundation, which has Microsoft staff on the BoD. In Sirius,
the management staff does not use Linux. Then we have the Linux Foundation,
whose director doesn’t even use Linux. Or Linux Foundation, which fails to
protect the kernel from hostile code. In the case of Sirius, money was taken
from Bill Gates in secret. We still cannot figure out what the NDA was meant to
hide and why there was a relocation to Washington. Then we have the Linux
Foundation, whose bureaucrats have higher salaries than key developers.
Remember that Sirius paid its technical staff like 3 or 4 times below market
standards (for this kind of job and working times).
Compare this to the Linux Foundation, which has Linux-hostile board members. In
Sirius, some managers just bullied the staff and oppressed people like it was a
hobby
The Linux Foundation, which advertises for its most hostile competitor, seems
like an apt analogy here for many reasons. The bottom line is, the company
engaged in fraud (we only found out this year) and its victims are many people
who actually use GNU/Linux, unlike the perpetrators of the fraud. █

Neural networks (there really there is nothing “neural”

were pretty much dismissed as a warmed-over model of

idea that computers are mainly useful as an adjunct to

The evidence is getting stronger by the day that our

soldered on, glued in, and screwed down than ever. Part
of this is a side effect of our computers getting
smaller, but part of it also is a direct result of the
companies that make our computing devices getting more
protective over who can open up a machine. One company,
whose name rhymes with “map pull,” has even gained a
reputation for removing once-common upgradability options
like RAM and storage. Because who needs a 512GB SSD

What’s the “right” level of CPU utilization for a server?
If you look at a monitoring dashboard from a well-
designed and well-run service, what CPU utilization
should we hope to see, averaged over a day or two?
It’s a very general question, and it’s not clear it
should have a single answer. That said, for a long time,
I generally believed that higher is always better: we
should aim for as close to 100% utilization as we can.
Why? Well, anything less than 100% represents unused
hardware capacity, which means we’re wasting resources.
If a service isn’t maxing out its CPU, we could move it
onto a smaller instance or run some additional work on
that node.

Sudan’s military and a powerful paramilitary force have
engaged in fierce fighting in the capital and elsewhere

people were killed and more than 180 wounded as the two
forces battled Saturday with armored vehicles, machine

recent hopes of an eventual transition to democracy and
it raised fears of a wider conflict as fighting continued
into Saturday night. The clashes capped months of
heightened tensions between the armed forces and the
Rapid Support Forces group. Those tensions had delayed a
deal with political parties to get the country back to

# ⚓ CAPCOM_changes⠀⇛
This month I am working on some substantial changes
to the way the public CAPCOM instance hosted at
gemini.circumlunar.space works. The “big picture”
whereby each month CAPCOM selects 100 random feeds
from all those it knows about to aggregate for that
month will not change. Therefore most of the
changes I’m about to describe will not become
visible until May. However, there are some details
worth knowing in advance because some people can
act upon them now. In approximate order of
excitingness…
[...]
I hope that in this way CAPCOM will start to
respond to the natural ebb and flow of activity in
Geminispace in an organic way without any manual
attention from either me or from capsule authors.
If a feed is permanently abandoned, CAPCOM won’t
beat its head against that bad URL forever (as it
no doubt has been for some dead feeds in recent
years), but the feed will be migrated to the
inactive list and stay there, so that it will not
decrease the odds of actively updated feeds being
sampled each month. Eventually, neither time nor
bytes will be wasted checking on that feed. If
somebody stops updating their capsule for somewhere
between six and twelve months for whatever reason
but then returns, CAPCOM will notice, set that feed
aside for a while to give others more of a chance
at exposure, but will then start regularly checking
in on the newly active feed again after a modest
delay. Even a hiatus of between one and two years
will be recovered from with a delay which, while
longer than some might consider ideal, is not
longer than the hiatus itself. It is not a big
problem that CAPCOM might take several months to
realise that a previously inactive feed has come
back to life; even if it noticed the return
immediately, it could easily still take a few
months before the feed happened to get sampled as
one of the monthly 100. Naturally, feeds which
maintain a regular and consistent posting schedule

What’s_New⠀⇛
LXQt is a highly lightweight, modular, fast desktop
environment designed to be user-friendly and easy
to use. It relies on the Qt toolkit and provides a
highly customizable interface that allows users to
tweak the look and feel of their desktop
environment to their liking.
One of the main advantages of LXQt is its meager
system requirements. Because of this, it is
suitable for older or low-specification computers,
so it is an excellent choice for users looking to
bring new life to their old machines.
Just over five months after its previous LXQt 1.2
release, this lightweight desktop environment has
pleased its users with the release of the brand-new
LXQt 1.3. So, let’s see what’s new.

An Android app has a UI written in Java, not on top
of a C/C++ based GUI toolkit (GNOME, Qt, KDE,
wxWidgets, …). Gnulib cannot help you porting this
part of an application to Android.
But when an application has a large part written in
C, and you want to reuse this part in the Android
app, Gnulib is useful. Recently, Android has been
added to the list of portability targets of Gnulib.
This means that most of the POSIX functionality
that you might use in your application will compile
and work fine also on Android.
In particular, the work-in-progress port of GNU
Emacs to Android uses Gnulib to its best.
* § Leftovers⠀➾
o ⚓ George Hosu ☛ The_Evolutionary_Narrative⠀⇛
It’s been noted many times before that suffering, from an
evolutionary perspective, is a necessity of existing.
It comes about as a result of our having expectations,
narratives of ourselves and the world which we can’t
break out of. These narratives are necessary, of course,
because in an adaptive environment, once you stop having
a narrative you die.
We can even “validate” this hypothesis of sorts, there is
a genetic condition that leads to humans being born
without internal narratives. We know this from a few
people that survive it into adulthood, usually in a very
sheltered environment due to helicopter parents, because
most humans born this way die within a few months or, at
most, years.
What we now refer to as “Hinduism” is an amalgamation of
traditions that share a dichotomous past.

UCB, Inc. v. Actavis Lab’ys UT, Inc., 2023 WL
2904757, — 4th — (Fed. Cir. Apr. 12, 2023)
Rotigotine is a drug used to treat
Parkinson’s disease. People with Parkinson’s
disease experience significant
gastrointestinal dysfunction, such as
difficulty swallowing, which can frustrate
the oral administration of drugs. However,
the complications associated with oral
treatment can be avoided by means of a
transdermal patch that delivers the drug
through the patient’s skin. In order to
cross the skin barrier, however, the drug
must be in an “amorphous,” i.e., non-
crystalline, form. If the drug crystallizes
in the patch, it will generally not be able
to cross the skin barrier.
