[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 today's daily bulletin was 9000+ lines long
[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 without any videos and barely any images
[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 but I've taken down the volume a bit from my end
[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 and started preparing more to write
[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 going to leave hom in 3 hours to buy dry foods etc.
[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 the fish is still alive, but almost a week now refusing to eat and getting weaker as a result
[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 the parasite may be gone, but she needs o start eating for any chance of recovery
[02:50] schestowitz-pi2 it's a very small fish

[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 bssf thousands of layoffs
[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 intel pay cuts
[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 some bit cut (20% for inlaw)
[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 the compromises of work/life change
[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 inflation, pay, conditions
[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 no more home/WFH
[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 this way they can get rid of workers without layoffs
[10:19] schestowitz-pi2 people retire/resign
[10:19] techrights[sec] The details are important: which divisions are being cut and which
[10:19] techrights[sec] skills, or lack thereof, are being kicked to the curb?
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 software side 5% pay cut
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 the big pay cut is hardware/gate design
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 20%
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 but maybe was overpaid
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 *basf
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 2,000 iirc
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 tomshardware mentioned intel pay cuts
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 then changed the headline
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 as noted in irc today
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 to omit that part
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 i assume the editor got contacted
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 intelis smashed by tomshardware
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 and then comes a puff piece too
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 after they reported some products being canceled
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 i remember techrights irc getting micromoles trying to melittle azure layoffs
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 even if they quietly happen every year
[10:22] schestowitz-pi2 and microsoft insists azure is the future
[10:28] schestowitz-pi2 some people i know left at the optical time or the optimum being the time where the tradeoff between
[10:28] schestowitz-pi2 pay grade and abuse received/tolerate isn't worth it. if the abuses increases and relative (to prices)
[10:28] schestowitz-pi2 compensationgoes down, then the equation yields another outcome. glad i stayed in till i did.
[10:28] schestowitz-pi2 -
[10:34] techrights[sec] Azure is a money pit for m$
[10:35] techrights[sec] Azure is a money pit for m$
[10:35] techrights[sec] Billions for bailing out failed business models, like Azure
[10:35] techrights[sec] or m$ in general.
[10:36] schestowitz-pi2 ..
[10:36] schestowitz-pi2 azure, microsoft, banks...
[10:36] schestowitz-pi2 no lack of money if they have the "connections"
[10:36] schestowitz-pi2 or buy connections (aka "lobbyists")
[10:36] schestowitz-pi2 or bribe by proxy
[10:41] schestowitz-pi2 BASF to Cut 2,600 Jobs After a Year of High Energy Costs https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/24/world/europe/basf-layoffs-germany.html
[10:41] -TechrightsBN/#boycottnovell-www.nytimes.com | BASF to Cut 2,600 Jobs After a Year of High Energy Costs - The New York Times
[10:42] schestowitz-pi2 second report i see about it
[10:42] techrights[sec] The got into the Biden campaign and via his win into the White House,
[10:42] techrights[sec] Now it looks like they spend more time in DC than in Redmond, lobbying, bribing
[10:42] techrights[sec] misleading, lying, etc.
[10:43] schestowitz-pi2 war contracts in ukraine
[10:43] schestowitz-pi2 'saving' ukraine from the mess they themselves bred if not created and contribute to
[10:43] schestowitz-pi2 inflaming, then putting out SOME flames
[10:43] schestowitz-pi2 making sure some are left for later "work"

[11:37] techrights[sec] M$ created those problems, at least as far as the "cyber" part goes. Now
[11:37] techrights[sec] in return for having created a "cyber" disaster, they are being rewarded by
[11:37] techrights[sec] the outsourcing of critical UA government infrastructure into Axzure so that
[11:37] techrights[sec] "all" sides have equal access to it. It's not the way it should have been done.
[11:37] techrights[sec] M$ should have been punished not rewarded for abject failure.

[14:17] *psydroid2 has quit (Ping timeout: 2m30s)
[14:35] schestowitz-pi2 still trying to find the optimal way to handle the feeds, this may take some time
[14:50] *psydroid2 (~psydroid@cbcfptirpkfqa.irc) has joined #boycottnovell
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 of note: i installed some adblocking in firefox
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 unlike invidious, which i use for linking, it does show 2 ads prioe to videos, but
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 it suspends them from playinmg
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 this means that when opening a youtube url i need to wait about 25 secs before I can even
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 play the video I wish to watch
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 the ads show up only as images
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 maybe to full gulag into thinking i watched something and skipped
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 but 25 secs to load a vidseo is a long time
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 and that also assume you already installed some addons
[14:52] schestowitz-pi2 addons that probably won't work like this months later

[16:56] techrights[sec] I'm finding the feed script rather efficient. It lacks a lot of functionality
[16:56] techrights[sec] but the work flow involves less repetition and little to no unscheduled
[16:56] techrights[sec] surfing. --keep works when loading in a new OPML file yet retains state info
[16:56] techrights[sec] for the existing feeds. Otherwise, running it with no parameters takes only
[16:56] techrights[sec] a few minutes to load close to 700 feeds.
[16:56] techrights[sec] Then it takes about 30 to 60 minutes to process them.

[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 i might head to bed soon
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 manchester might be getting another trophy soon (football, final)
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 to explain what i do atm with feeds
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 I have a full skeletal expansion of most but not all feeds
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 some contain complex html, some only summaries
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 which isfine
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 in firefox i have a more complete overview, but i don't always wish to open bloated pages
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 one by one
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 how to arrange all this on the screen I'm not sure yet
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 the way i do it right now is rather poor
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 as i use virtual desktops, despite having 9 screens
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 one alternative approach might be, open firefox over ssh -X
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 or offload the file to another machine, then open from there
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 5 screens are connected ok through barrier with full keyboar support
[17:41] schestowitz-pi2 and clipboard too
[17:42] techrights[sec] 1) run script based on established states
[17:42] techrights[sec] 2) triage titles by middle clicking on potential articles
[17:42] techrights[sec] 3) go through the open tabs
[17:43] schestowitz-pi2 with mouse buttons 4 and 5 i can more neatly deal with items I like, fewer clicks
[17:43] schestowitz-pi2 and no tabs, but it's easier to open from within a browser if necessary
