"Network maintenance" down in London
THE site has been sped up lately (sometimes close to a hundredth of a second to fetch a page). "Network maintenance" is scheduled for tomorrow night. To quote the host: "Network maintenance to improve the flow of routes within our network by removing legacy configuration and preparation for adding new network connectivity in the future. This work involves temporarily isolating some of our routers and re-routing traffic via different paths across our network and to/from the Internet and although customer service should not be impacted, due to the nature of the configuration work we're announcing this as an at risk period for the network."

This "at risk period" is 22:00 GMT on Thursday until 02:00 GMT on Friday. Any downtimes or network disruption impair IRC in particular (it's not too good a protocol for dealing with hangups when there's no server redundancy), so the work might be "felt" for those who hang out in our IRC network.
We hope the Web site and Gemini capsule will remain accessible the entire time. █
