Fear-mongering/dramatisation regarding CVE-2024-47076, CVE-2024-47175, CVE-2024-47176 and CVE-2024-47177 had very small impact
WE'VE had a spell of good weather (went outdoors thrice yesterday!) and it seems like the FUD about CVE-2024-47076, CVE-2024-47175, CVE-2024-47176 and CVE-2024-47177 has had very limited success. It was actually worse before anything was known, due primarily to misreporting and improper assignment of severity. Just as we hoped [1, 2], some sober analyses turned up, explaining that almost nobody was affected and the fix was trivial.

We've now fully caught up with news and today we'll publish some articles based on recent news. Hopefully this is the last post we'll make about CVE-2024-47076, CVE-2024-47175, CVE-2024-47176 and CVE-2024-47177.
The news cycles got dragged/slowed down a bit by the above cluster of bugs (as it relates to "Linux"), but at least they didn't get away with the notion that Linux is a printing program or something.
As usual, based on our readings, a lot of the sensationalism and misinformation about this came from social control media. █
