THIS is the 70th page/article in just over 2 days (we did 200 last week) and today we want to cover some more market "stats" pertaining to GNU/Linux adoption and the consistent demise of Microsoft (not just in the area of operating systems). July's data from various surveys (Steam, SimilarWeb etc.) helps affirm our hypothesis/hypotheses. For instance, OpenAI traffic plunged 60% last month, Linux Mint has climbed in Steam (Ubuntu is down to third place! See below!), and Microsoft Edge has failed to gain share since last year (Chrome is growing, reaching unprecedented levels, whereas Firefox falls to its lowest share - 2.74%).

Everything Cory Doctorow wrote this past December about the "AI" "bubble" turns out to be inevitable. There are pundits now using terms like "peak AI" (suggesting we're already on the way down) and we'll hopefully return to some relative sanity some time soon. Enough with buzzwords and hype. Enough.

Maybe GNU/Linux can exceed 5% by year's end or even reach 10% if one counts Chromebooks.

There are already rumours about Microsoft mass layoffs this month, probably just before the next report, i.e. towards the end of the month. █
