Automattic has just published this update about "WordPress 6.4’s PHP Compatibility" (WordPress is notorious when it comes to supporting older version of PHP and vice versa). In our experience, WordPress is a lot to maintain. PHP adoption means slow-motion digital obsolescence. What runs today won't run for long. We're talking about PHP-dependent 'suites' that won't last and WordPress in particular has become very large; WordPress has basically become kitchensinkware (trying to also be shopping software, photography software etc. through hooks and extensions). b2 already had many of the features a blogger may need, sans all the bloat and underlying complexity that almost nobody asked for.

But anyway, above all, rethink the concept of added complexity in sites. It's easy to pick and install Content Management Systems (CMSs), but in the long run they may be costly and time-consuming. Lots of CPU and RAM usage, many updates/components to look after, extensions becoming incompatible all of a sudden... █
