04:43 schestowitz[TR3]; Whoever posted this sure does NOT know what IBM Infrastructure consist of and the fact that enterprise storage / networking is key to IBMs AI Cloud directive. Yes, Infrastructure has been slimmed down as to size, but was done to best fit its offering to IBMs overall game plan. So good try with trying to bring negativity to the table, but you looking in the wrong place.

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; Dear Colleagues,

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; The Local Staff Committee Munich is looking for new members to the internal Appeals Committee[1] (ApC) from the entire staff. The legal framework provides that,

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; The members are exempted of their other official duties to an extent proportionate to their work on the ApC (see new Article 7(3) in Circular No.356).

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; They enjoy the same protection as elected staff representatives: their work on the ApC shall in no way be prejudicial to them (see Article 34(2) ServRegs) and they are protected from any procedure under Article 52 ServRegs (professional incompetence; see amended Article 6(4) in Circular No.356).

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; An initial training will be offered to newcomers in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Appeals Committee.

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; We are looking for staff members from all Munich sites and DGs who are willing to become members of the Appeals Committee. We shall nominate one member. Although a legal background is not required, a genuine interest in (international labour) law would be an advantage.

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; How to apply?

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; If you are interested in becoming a member of the Appeals Committee, please contact your Local Staff Committee Munich (xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) before 10 December 2024. We would be grateful if you would also provide any relevant background or prior experience.

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; Interviews will be held with interested candidates to establish the list of nominees.

07:24 schestowitz[TR3]; Confidentiality will be respected."

17:56 schestowitz[TR3]; Hello - dinosaur with 34 years at IBM here. I don't have a defined benefit plan because when I was a bright-eyed young engineer joining this compan,y I had no expectation that I would still be here decades later. To be fair, when I joined IBM as a student in the late '80,s it was still a respected technology company, not a woke biggest-a$$-kisser wins s***hole.

17:56 schestowitz[TR3]; Now to my point. I am not afraid of being laid off. I am waiting for it, so when I do, I will hire a lawyer and fight for the 24 months of severance pay that Ontario president has generally made achievable for those with a track record like mine who are willing to fight. So don't mistake our determination to collect a severance in partial repayment for the BS we've had to put up with in this company over decades, for fear. Unfortun

17:56 schestowitz[TR3]; "...who are too afraid to rock the boat in fear of losing there pension."

17:56 schestowitz[TR3]; First of all, it's "their," not "there." More to the point, if you have fewer than 30 years with the company, you don't really have a pension.

17:56 schestowitz[TR3]; That doesn't negate the truth that, if you have fewer than 20 years with the company, the probability of completing your career here is not great. You better be really key to vital niche with top ranked customers. Otherwise, eventually, whatever niche you happen to occupy will be culled. And so will you.
