02:08 schestowitz;
02:08 schestowitz; Users of Intels Alder Lake processors running Linux 5.16 are expected to enjoy a significant performance gain.
02:08 schestowitz; Due to a new scheduler in Windows 11, Intels 12th-Gen Core processors performed better than their Linux counterparts when they were first released in the third quarter of last year.
02:08 schestowitz; The Linux kernel has improved since Linux 5.16 was released, and as a consequence, the open-source operating system can now outperform Windows 11 on Alder Lake CPUs.

02:09 schestowitz;
02:09 schestowitz; Intel's 12th Gen Alder Lake chips are some of the best CPUs on the market. It turns out that if you'd like to get the best performance out of the processors, you may want to give Linux a try. Linux recently received an update to version 5.16. According to benchmarks by Phoronix, that update pushes Linux above Windows 11 in several areas.
02:55 activelow; alder-lake got BIG.little cores; $ taskset -c <CoreX,CoreY> will set affinity explicitely and doesn't require any "improvement" of the scheduler
03:00 activelow; asymmetric SMP is flawed, wouldn't recommend neither any such CPU nor operating system support for this
03:01 activelow; a kernel core should remain fast and simple, and too the scheduler part (for fast and efficient context switching)
03:03 activelow; currently, default linux scheduler implements: NUMA, MultiCore (AMD), Hyperthreading (Intel), and asymmetric SMP
03:03 activelow; it's unpredictable, if and when a corner-case is hit with scheduling decisions/heuristics
