●● Another Round of Microsoft Mass Layoffs About to Begin (Maybe Fifth of the Year, Unrelated to the 10,000 Sum Which is False, Very Outdated, and Misleading)

Posted in Australia, Finance, Microsoft at 1:03 am by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

In Australia almost 10% of Microsoft’s workforce has been laid off this year alone (we’re only in July):

Image: Microsoft is set to slash approximately 50 positions in Australia as part of its latest round of redundancies, a move that follows the elimination of over 10,000 jobs earlier this year. With around 2,500 local employees, the latest wave of lay-offs will bring the total number of Australia-based staff axed this year to 200.

Summary: It’s already well into Monday (past midday) in Australia, a week in which Microsoft wants to explain to shareholders how it will cut costs, and based on the tenses used in the articles above (just minutes old [1, 2]) these layoffs are about to happen; they’re not related to the 1,000+ laid off without prior notice a fortnight ago in the US, Canada, and Europe

From a Microsoft boosting site a few days ago:

Image: Two individuals who spoke to Insider claimed that many managers were kept in the dark concerning the layoff plans, pointing out a noticeable silence from Microsoft’s leadership team. The company’s chief commercial officer, Judson Althoff, faced criticism for his lack of transparency, specifically for not providing more details on the layoffs and a planned sales kickoff event this year. The information came to light through internal messages shared with Insider. Being clandestine about mass layoffs is a very bad sign. Even Microsoft ‘fan’ sites are baffled by this.
