Summary: The European Patent Office, Europe’s largest patent office, has been hijacked by special interest groups that commit crimes and intentionally disregard all the rules; they not only try to establish plaintiff-friendly kangaroo courts but they also want a "production line" for patents instead of a properly-functioning patent office

THE Web site of the EPO pretends that all is well, but under the surface there are fuming patent examiners and administration staff. The chiefs at the EPO, who are basically friends of Benoît Battistelli and António Campinos (nepotism all the way up!), are promoting illegal and unconstitutional courts while granting European software patents by pressurising examiners.

“The EPO, assuming it carries on moving/marching in this very same trajectory, will simply perish and maybe cease to exist after its 50th anniversary.”

The above video takes stock of some recent publications from within the EPO, covering a range of issues. Among them: brain drain, work pressure, declining patent quality, and demoralisation tactics.

The EPO, assuming it carries on moving/marching in this very same trajectory, will simply perish and maybe cease to exist after its 50th anniversary. It’s only a matter of time before political will outweighs lobbyists’ power. Maybe what’s left of the media will belatedly participate in exposing the corruption at the EPO, though media ownership by the powerful (and consolidation around power) may mean that instead the media will cover up this corruption. █
