●● With Some Exceptions, Free Software Supporters Are Actually Happy That Richard Stallman Has Formally Come Back

Posted in Free/Libre Software at 10:46 pm by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

The grassroots movement backs the founder, but corporate media tells us the opposite (creating an alternate universe of perception management delusions)

Summary: Richard M. Stallman (RMS) is actually backed by the large majority of people who care about software freedom and use Free/libre software, as opposed to a loud mob signing a petition from Apple Macs and Windows (especially organisations and corporations signing)

We’ve studied some IRC logs, seeing that the media wants us to think everybody feels like this (the replies are better). Sam Varghese continues his anti-RMS campaign (beard envy?), having published half a dozen one-sided articles that even amplify people from Microsoft! In any event, let’s examine the reaction by actually devoted and loyal Free software supporters. There are hundreds of them in IRC. Here’s the #libreplanet channel log (mildly redacted to protect the source). We can see jubilations there coinciding with the announcement from RMS.

“Expect RMS to return to his former role soon.”Some fragments from Alex Oliva: “one little secret I can share now is that at that time, when I wrote about campaigning for RMS to return to the board, the decision to reinstate him had very nearly already been made. people who didn’t know about that may have taken it as pressure on the fsf, but it really wasn’t…”

Expect RMS to return to his former role soon. █

Don’t be easily fooled by Microsoft- and IBM-funded ‘media’ (e.g. ZDNet, Ars Technica, controlled by marketing companies) and their indebted NGOs (also indebted to Google), e.g. CC, OSI, EFF, GNOME Foundation. They’re there to help the corporations that sponsor them.
