Summary: Blackboard is coding for its competitor through a newly-acquired proxy, then brags about it

THE other month we wrote about the buying of a proxy by Microsoft's pal, Blackboard. According to reports and a press release from Blackboard, the proxy is now pushing code into Blackboard’s rival:

The new assignment module, developed by Australia-based NetSpot, has been included in the newest release of the Moodle’s “core” software, Moodle 2.3, released globally to users in June. NetSpot developed the module in close partnership with the Moodle HQ development team and a consortium of Australian universities, greatly enhancing Moodle’s ability to manage.electronic submissions and simplifying its use for educators and students.

Letting Blackboard control its opposition is not wise. We already saw what happens when Microsoft is allowed to code for its opposition. There are selfish motives. █
