Microsoft APIs instead of LSB-based MeeGo

BACK in the early days of MeeGo, Novell staff got involved by putting some Mono in it [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. Novell/OpenSUSE has just come up with a new name to this endeavour. It’s called Smeegol and coverage is seen as following the announcement from Andrew Wafaa. Here is how Phoronix describes it in one of two posts on the subject:

The openSUSE Goblin Team, which was originally formed to bring the latest Moblin innovations into the openSUSE world and now are focusing upon pulling in MeeGo innovations after Moblin and Maemo merged, has a new announcement. This openSUSE team is now announcing the first public release of Smeegol, which combines MeeGo with openSUSE into one netbook-designed Linux distribution.
As our reader Pawel points out, this “uses banshee, so it uses mono. I hoped meego will be pure qt and mono free” (but Novell and Microsoft want C# in all mobile devices, including hypePhone and Android [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15]). Banshee falls outside the MCP and therefore Microsoft is capable of suing. █
