Summary: A lot of companies that are connected to Microsoft increase fear of Free software for security and liability
A MICROSOFT ally [1, 2] called Fortify has on many occasions been spreading FUD against Free software, leading to numerous complaints not only from this Web site [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]. Well, Fortify is doing it again. It is a question of bias.

There are other cases of bias, where FUD against Free software is actually means of making income. We recently mentioned OpenLogic’s use of SFLC critics to make some money, but OpenLogic merely follows the footsteps of Black Duck. Interestingly enough, both companies were created/run by former Microsoft employees, so there may be a bit of a pattern here. █

“Microsoft is unique among proprietary software companies: they are the only ones who have actively tried to kill Open Source and Free Software. It’s not often someone wants to be your friend after trying to kill you for ten years, but such change is cause for suspicion.”
–Bradley M. Kuhn (SFLC)
“Open source is an intellectual-property destroyer [...] I can’t imagine something that could be worse than this for the software business and the intellectual-property business. I’m an American; I believe in the American way, I worry if the government encourages open source, and I don’t think we’ve done enough education of policymakers to understand the threat.”
–Jim Allchin, President of Platforms & Services Division at Microsoft
