“Moonlight is Silverlight for Linux” is a lie
Like a mythical plague, this misconception spreads all over the place and spins out of control, giving Web developers the false impression that Silverlight is cross-platform although it definitely is not. Here is the latest example of an incorrect headline that could result in broken telephone effect (aka Chinese whispers).Whether the lies come from Microsoft, from Novell or from naive reporting, well… this may be hard to tell. Either way, if someone refers to Novell’s Moonlight as “Silverlight for Linux,” correct him/her. Moonlight is not Silverlight. █
