Re: A Forward-Looking Statement: Impending Hiatus

=> A Forward-Looking Statement: Impending Hiatus

I love what Jaakko - aka @Skyjake - has done for the Gemini community thus far with all the projects. I may have mentioned this before, but if we could give out Gemini awards for the most influential contributor, it would be Jakko. Lagrange just works, and includes a lot of functionality that makes Gemini even more user friendly, so much thanks for the long interest and continued progress on all these projects.

Skyjake's most recent Gemlog, referenced above, made me think of one precious thing: time. As I had stated in a previous post of mine - aptly titled "Time" - I go on to wonder how folks are able to hold down jobs, a spouse, kids, and then have time to code on what seems like not easy projects. Of course, I know everyone's home situation is different so some are able to find that personal time to just crank out code for hours at a time and still have a healthy balanced life... I just don't know how they do it! Props to any and all that are able to do this (or maybe operate on less sleep than I do).

Now, in Skyjake's post it is pointed out that there will be a few month hiatus, and for good reason - a newborn! Congrats to Skyjake on the upcoming new addition to the family, I hope all goes well for everyone. I know how stressful it can be because I've been through it myself. I can also say that having a second takes parenting to the next level, at least it did for us. No longer is one parent sufficient around here to take care of the parental duties for a while, both must be on alert and it can be exhausting.

So all this lead up is to simply say that for my own very selfish reasons that I'd love to see more Gemini-related development coming from Skyjake after the family gets all settled in, but I also completely understand if the hiatus is longer than a few months. I will reiterate that I don't assume to know what folks' home lives are about, so this may be a reality, but I know the sanctity and importance of family and if Gemini needs to operate without one of its lead contributors for a while, so be it! This family here will always welcome you back. But we do appreciate the heads-up.

Best of luck, and thanks for all you've done thus far.
