The Laundry Asymmetry

When preparing for a longish trip I packed six sets of socks, underwear and t-shirts, so I could do the laundry weekly (six plus the clothes I was wearing). Sadly, I miscalculated.

Since I can't go to the laundry naked, I can only wash six sets of clothes.

The apparent symmetry of having a set of clothes for each day of the week is broken, and it's worse than I imagined: the clothes worn during laundry day don't get washed until the next laundry day, and I can wear them the next day. If I have n sets of clothes, I must do the laundry every n-1 days, and the clothes I am wearing will become available n+1 days.

Weird. Or maybe not weird and I am just getting stupider.
