It turns out that Emacs just silently deletes spaces at the end of a line, unless you fidget around by inserting such spaces but NOT pressing . Yeah, backspace or arrow over after typing, enter the spaces, and quietly, on your tippitoes cursor away from that spot. Shush everyone around you -- you are doing an important task, and don't want to anger your master.
My game, SpellBinding uses a format that separates words by spaces. So the last word was sometimes disappeared by Emacs. Sometimes I would notice, and fix it by inserting a space and saying 'how did this happen?'.
That does it. I really don't want to use Emacs. Except for Common Lisp you kind of have no choice. Maybe I will give Vlime, Slimv or Limp another try. Sometimes I wonder why I do anything at all...
