Early Pioneer Park Visit (publ. 2024-08-13)

This morning (2024-08-13) I dropped by Pioneer Park around 5am. I was originally aiming to get some sunrise photos, but the clouds were too thick, and the view to the NE was not great in the various spots I visited in my walk-around. But I got a few photos of other interesting early-morning subjects.

Here are some dim-lighting photos from the park garden. These were taken in "dusk mode" on the AW130.

Here were some birds, huddled cozily together on a log, on the Chena River:

Two beavers were out playing:

For a while, the beavers were doing some kind of slapping or flipping dive maneuver, about once per minute. The beaver would dive under the water, and then there would be a loud crashing noise, and a spray of water up into the air. I don't know much about beavers so I'm not sure what the purpose of it was. God does not always allow our plans to work out the way we expect. But if we allow ourselves to be carried along by the waves of divine providence, there are usually some interesting things to see along the way.
