As a child I would sometimes stay in Wales in cottage that had once been a blacksmith's forge. The walls were stone and hugely thick. There was a window seat by the dining table but the wall was too deep for it: the seat didn't reach the window. Later, when I had children, we stayed there again and I took a photo of the window in the huge wall.
