Can Perez win the championship? 🤔🏎️

When one team has a dominant car, the only doubt about the championship is which of their drivers will win. And it's usually obvious which is the stronger. So maybe we should just give Verstappen the championship trophy now.

In the Schumacher years at Ferrari, or the Vettel years at Red Bull, or the Hamilton years at Mercedes, their team mates were stong enough to win races, but not to give them a serious challenge. The one exception was Nico Rosberg who beat Hamilton. But he knew that it had taken everything he had plus some luck, so he retired after that season.

This year, Perez has made a strong start against Verstappen. They have two wins each. How will it play out?

Parez hasn't had a stellar career, but he's pretty good. He has been with several teams in the midfield, and got several podium finishes, often because he could make his tyres last long enough that he could make fewer pit stops. He was dropped, and it looked like he was out of F1 until Red Bull signed him. Since he's been at the team he's become known for his street circuit skill, and he's had 5 wins, but in the same period Verstappen has had 27.

Perez needs to find something new in himself in his thirteenth season. If he doesn't have that, then tyre management and street circuit strength won't be enough to stop Verstappen beating him again.
