Seemed like everyone had a problem in Spain ☀️
- Leclerc should have had an easy win after Verstappen spun, but his engine gave up.
- Perez might have had a win, but he had to give up his place to Verstappen, and he wanted to "talk later" to the team.
- Verstappen won, but only after a spin and a long fight with his DRS flap.
- Sainz had a big spin that took him out of contention.
- Hamilton was hit and had a puncture that made him comically downbeat, then when he'd recovered from that, he had to slow to get his car to the finish.
- Bottas ran well but his tyres went and he was overtaken too easily by people he might have stayed in front of.
- Magnussen hit Hamilton and spoiled a chance of points.
- Russell had the same car issue as Hamilton, even though it didn't cost him places,
- Alonso said he had a good race, but he started last, which made the whole thing hard.
- Albon said his tyres lasted no more than one lap, and he could have done "6 or 7" pit stops.
The best part of the race by far was Russell defending against Verstappen. He left the door open when Verstappen wasn't coming, then he when he was, Russell left Verstappen just enough room to get by but not be able to brake properly, and they swapped again almost immediately. I enjoyed watching Verstappen try to avoid contact, something he seemed quite happy to have last year.
