The above post reminded me of the once awesome web browser Opera.

Was it version 4 or 5 where I discovered the site navigation buttons that became visible when the website had navigational hints within the meta tags?

Unfortunately hardly any site used that means of navigation. Still, I am a large fan of navigating at least via path elements in the URL. Ha, Opera had the mouse gesture up-left for that!

And I am happy that most Gemini browsers also support to navigate up in the path hierarchy.

Regarding gophermap, I have yet to study the ancient concept a bit more …
