2021-03-22 - How I knew I wasn't cut out for teaching in a public school

In my second year of teaching Jr. High math in 1987 I came home one day to my rented garage apartment and vomited from the stress of not being able to succeed in my profession. My classes were incipient anarchy and rebellion and struggle sessions new born every day, and I hadn't a clue on how to make them better. It was sink or swim, and I sank. I couldn't face signing up for my third year needed to gain forgiveness for the remainder of my student debt to the State of Florida. So I didn't.
