2024-11-06 One kilobyte

I try to keep my articles here 999 bytes or less.

Why not lines?

Because I could cheat by avoiding line breaks.

Why not words?

Because they are hard to define and count, e.g. with hyphenated words or spaced dashes.

Why not characters (before encoding them as bytes)?

Because byte counts are easier to get and unambiguous.

Why not KiB (1024)? Why not include the bound?

Because I can spot 3 digits immediately.
