Hosting the Unifi controller in Home Assistant

2024-08-15

I have a new Unifi Gateway Max that I'm planning on installing as my new home router. Unfortunately, it requires a later version of the Unifi controller Network app than my existing Cloud Key can handle.

I'd been looking at hosting the controller on a Raspberry Pi that I have lying around, but then I discovered that there's a Home Assistant addon that will run the controller software using Home Assistant's existing docker setup! That should make this much easier.
