Moved house. The raspberry pi was disconnected and thrown in a box for a while.
When I plugged it back my server (agate) was not working. I must have uninstalled rust to make space for a pleroma server, or something stupid.
Trying to cargo install agate always caused it to hang for hours.
Now I installed a different server software called gem (C). This was extremely easy to build and configure! In my day job I'm used to doing things the old-fashioned way with C, make, and cmake.
But, it doesnt come with a convenient systemctl file. Right now my command line is holding the whole thing up while I learn how to write one.
Vaguely remembering I wrote a script for this. How does it work, I write my post titles into gemlog/index.gmi by hand, then a bot goes around and copies them to "Recent entries" on my front page? Is that still running?
Ok, this is a bit overblown for someone who's just discovered doing some sketches. Here's the draft art manifesto from my journal (logseq) yesteday. To move to its own page whenever I feel like it
* That's my style. I chase the feeling of "loud". My various monochrome, two-tone media and techniques are getting there.
* Sure I might give pages to people, if they were to ask, for free, for practical price like postage or cost of materials, etc. The point is I don't do it for marketability, social media points potential, etc.
* I don't make anything so valuable I need to worry about storing it, or using the best most permanent materials, or "not ruining" something .
* Do risk potentially ruining some previous works by drawing on them further, why not.
* Like a picture? copy it to sketchbook. Doesnt matter is it was a real 3d object, a photo, or more or less "someone else's art". We live in a complex and visual culture. Ideas and images get passed around. Would be lying to say all of that isn't part of my world.
* Copy from photos. copy from the masters. copy from movies. copy from ads. Copy from packaging. Copy from cartoons. Copy from your peers. Copy from song lyrics. Nothing too high or too low to copy, learn from, remix.
* No shame in fan art
* I'll draw naked people (outrageous that that's even contentious these days) and other things without being influences by potentially not being able to show people or post it on the internet etc
* I don't do digital art
* It's always about working with some materials, even the simple pencil and paper is a 3D material working challenge, none of them are exaclty the ideal of making colored marks on a white plane.
* I definitely don't do generative AI
* All art has value simply because a human chose to go through the effort of making it
* I am existing and this is my world. Even if I did as little as drawing a neutral object I see: to simply state it back objectively (if such a thing were possible) is already too much for some people.
* I don't do one style, on subject, one medium, or one philosophy
