9:39am: caterpillars look sleepy but alive. ed is back on top. the rest hover above the food layer. one caterpillar sleeps next to a large poop. no noticeable change in size.
3:43pm: a light layer of something silkish is forming above the grub. more poop. caterpillars are feeding. bits of food are starting to cling to their bodies. this does not seem to bother them.
