11:40am: caterpillars arrive. 5/5 alive. smaller than expected. unsure of age. 3 climbers, 2 food dwellers.

3:33pm: 5/5 alive. kris speculates they are 1-2 days old. all five are on the ground floor, even ed, who is usually hanging out around the lid. they are mostly still, probably to conserve energy. they traveled a long way from california.
